The Host

Dan Snow is a historian, author and television presenter. He was born and raised in London, and remembers spending every weekend of his childhood being taken to castles, battlefields, medieval reenactments and historic country houses. He developed a great love of history which he went on to pursue at Oxford University. He left with a double first in history and started presenting military history programmes. Programmes he has presented have been broadcast by channels all over the world, and range from in-depth views on great military battles and leaders, to National Treasures live, a prime time live history show for the BBC. Major series include the award winning Battlefield Britain and the follow up series 20th Century Battles (BBC and The Military Channel, US). These told the story of decisive clashes in British and world history from Boudicca to Stalingrad and the Tet Offensive in Vietnam. During the course of his work he has trained as a medieval knight and learnt to joust, flown World War Two aircraft, been gassed, shovelled muck in a sewer under London, contracted hypothermia and been trained as a sniper.
