Today we present a new realm of the Battle Castle universe – our episodic motion comics. A unique visual experience, they are a different way to present history - and, like the characters they profile, they have a compelling lineage.

In our modern idealization of the Middle Ages, we often distance ourselves from how brutal and short many lives were. While creating Battle Castle, we struggled with balancing that violence with our modern sensibilities and the nature of broadcast television.

Battle Castle’s online world has allowed us to explore the dramatic, and sometimes bloody, legacies of our History Makers through the gritty world of motion graphics. In our first release, we bring you the backstory of a warrior slave-turned-king who challenged the legendary Crac des Chevaliers.
